Dial Painting Prices and FAQ

Most clock dials cost between $50 and $175 to repaint.  I can usually tell exactly how long it will take to paint a dial and any stumbling block I might run into.  I charge $20 per hour.  This is a lot less that my competition.  I don’t do this for the money.  The money just makes it possible for me to do this.

Roman Numeral Dials

Plain flat metal Roman numeral dials cost from $50 to $90 depending on detail.  Smaller ones or larger ones take more time so they cost more.

Arabic Numeral Dials

Arabic numbers take longer to draw. These cost an additional $20 to $40 unless they are sunken or raised.

Fancy logos, names and trademarks take time. Add $10, maybe $20 if they are really fancy, like a Seth Thomas Calendar. Those are hard to do but they are so great looking.

Painted OG dials

Oil painted finials take about two hours to oil paint.  And, the paint takes at least 48 hours to dry.  So, they cost an extra $30 to $60 and take longer to get back to you.  The more colors in the finials, the more it will cost.

Special Cases

If there is a raised ridge all around the chapter ring that is not removable?  If so then I have issues getting my templates in there.  So, they may have to be done with decals or airbrush.  We will talk about that if it is an issue.

These are just guidelines.  I really need to see a dial to give you a quote.  I never charge more than I quote.  Sometime it ends up being less.

USPS with delivery confirmation or insurance is very good.  They get here in great condition.

FEDEX ground does a great job if your dial is heavy.  Make sure you insure it accordingly.
